New Year
Posted by Wohnreich on
"Nina, we are entering the year of the rabbit!"
I listened spellbound to the joyful chatter of a lovely customer.
"The Year of the Rabbit will be my year!
Calmer and more relaxed," she said delightedly. "Yes, then it will be my year too," I said happily. "No, not necessarily. What is your Chinese zodiac sign?"
I am a tiger, I know that now. Nothing like "relaxed and calm". According to the Chinese, I am a daring fighter. Unpredictable, constantly on edge, always in a hurry and addicted to adventure.
I couldn't describe it more precisely. Yes, sometimes reality is a little uncomfortable.
Well, I'll stick to the good and focus on the following:
* During the New Year we should leave windows and doors open so that good luck can come in.
(it's rather difficult with our temperatures, but hey, maybe we can leave a small window open).
* the lights should burn so that luck can find its way.
(That shouldn't be a problem for us, we constantly forget to press a light switch).
* sweet food to sweeten the year.
(also no problem).
* Clean the house for the new year so that luck can find its place. However, it is important to remember that we do not sweep the floor on the first day of the new year, as this would mean sweeping away luck.
(I like that too).
* Buying shoes during the New Year is said to bring bad luck, as is cutting hair.
(which is fitting, because the sale has already started. So buy your shoes today and put your hair in a ponytail)!
* what happens on the first day of the new year reflects the coming year.
(I find it nice to start the first day of the new year with a favorite activity and it is certainly easy for me).
One more small thing, New Year is not always the same. The Chinese New Year takes place on the second new moon after the winter solstice. So between the
January 21st and February 21st.
According to "our" calendar, I wish you an energetic New Year, a happy January 1st and a healthy New Year!
Best wishes from the Tiger Kingdom
