Ice skating & ice lanterns
Posted by Wohnreich on
Switzerland is freezing!
Many Swiss people are happy about it.
In Rapperswil, the harbor has been opened as an ice surface.
The Sihl and Pfäffikersee have also reached the required ice thickness and are open to the public.
So it's time to get the skates out of winter storage and head out into the freezing cold.
The frosty weather is also ideal for making your own ice lanterns.
Very easy and very decorative.
To make a light, you need two yoghurt cups of different sizes. Put them inside each other, pour water into the space between them, add a few berries or twigs if you like, and either put the cups in the freezer or let the water turn to ice outside the door.
After a few hours, you can remove the cups from the ice cream mixture by turning them over and briefly pouring warm water over them.
Place a tea light in the ice mixture and place it in the garden, balcony, at the house entrance or on the windowsill at dusk.
To winter!
