We bake our dream house
Posted by Wohnreich on
Every year we make our own gingerbread house.
Yes, I am an avowed IKEA gingerbread house lover.
So yesterday I was looking for my miracle pack in the Swedish house.
I was deeply shocked when the saleswoman sympathetically told me that they were all sold out.
For those who don't know this miracle package, the contents promise a beautiful gingerbread house in no time.
To everyone else, yes, baking gingerbread houses from scratch is not that difficult.
Recipe for the dough:
500 g flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
3 tsp ginger
3 tsp cinnamon
200g butter
100 g sugar
100 g brown raw sugar
250 g molasses
2 beaten eggs
* Mix all ingredients and leave the dough in the fridge for an hour
* While you wait, draw your own chalet on a piece of baking paper. You will need two side walls, two roof parts and a front and back
* preheat the oven to 250°
* For the glue of the house you need 3 egg whites, beaten stiff, mixed with about 3 cups of powdered sugar. Put the mixture in a bag to cool
* Take the dough and roll it out. Place the template of the house parts on the dough and cut them out
* Bake the dough at about 250°, 10 to 15 minutes
* Once the dough has cooled, the fun part comes: decorating.
You need a paper or cardboard base. Be generous with the glue. The more you use, the better the house parts will stick together. The white mass also looks like snow.
I discovered some inspiration from Martha:
Try it out!
The gingerbread houses promise fun for young and old.
For everyone else, I can also highly recommend the Winter Village baking pan .
